Fall pics from yesterday

OK, I have one more for today. Yesterday, I took the kids to the arboretum and did fall pics. It is a gorgeous place right down the road, and we like to go there and take pictures. They were somewhat unwilling subjects, but we did get some cute ones. We also had Joshua's friend with us.

Halloween

I'm trying to catch up on everything, so there will be a few posts today. Friday night, we had plans to go out with Joshua's friend Will and his Mom who is a good friend of mine to go Trick or Treating. We also ran into another friend of theirs, Jake, who was in their class last year, and his Dad. After trick or treating for quite a while (the weather was beautiful!), we all ended up back at our house. Everyone played Rock Band and visited. I think Amy and I went for pizza at 10:30. We all had a great time! Everyone left around 11:30 or 11:45.

Saturday, we took the kids to Worlds of Fun (a local amusement park). We don't go very often (maybe every other year), but we went in September, and they had a special. You could buy a 2 day pass for only $5 more than a 1 day pass, so we did that. We didn't make it back until this weekend, and we were REALLY fortunate! It was 75 degrees on November 1 in Kansas City. There was hardly anyone (relatively speaking) at the park too! Joshua was brave and rode two large roller coasters (The Mamba and Timberwolf). He didn't like the Mamba but loved the Timberwolf. Sarah rode everything they would let her ride. She has absolutely no fear at all! She was furious she couldn't ride the "big" roller coasters. The Camp Snoopy stuff was too tame for her. Many rides thy will let little kids ride as long as they have an adult with them, so she went for it. The octopus, sea dragon (the thing that is like a boat type thing and takes you back and forth up in the air pretty high), and several others. And she kept wanting to ride over and over again because she had so much fun! Jason says we didn't do anything to help her curb her fearlessness by letting her do that. But everyone had a great day!

Tulsa Trip

After leaving the Segura's, we met Jason in Tulsa to visit his parents. It was too cold to swim (a lot of years it's still warm enough the end of Oct to swim), I think the water temperature was like 57, but we all had a nice time! We went out and rode go carts at the go cart track. These things are quick! I believe they go close to 100 mph. Jason and his Dad also took turns taking Zachary and Sarah out (obviously not going that fast). Zachary has been out before and enjoys it. Sarah hadn't ever gone before, and she loved it. She was so relaxed and thought it was great. There also is a "dune buggy" that Joshua drives.

After lunch, we headed to a Pumpkin Patch at an orchard. We enjoyed that too. The kids had a great time on the hayride, playing, and just being outside on a beautiful afternoon.

An end to a busy month!

Both of the boys had parent-teacher conferences in October. Unfortunately Jason was out of town that week, so he had miss it. Zachary's was first, and his teacher just loves him. She talked about how he was so sensitive, and also makes sure she stays on track. I got his report card that day, and it was interesting to compare it to Joshua's kindergarden report card. Zachary got mostly 3's (Exceeds expectations ~ the best you can get) on almost everything. He is very well behaved, and has made so many friends.

Joshua's conference ~ I didn't really learn anything I didn't already know as his teacher and I keep in touch frequently. She is giving him some options to keep him from being too bored. He also got mostly 3's on his report card, with the exception of behavioral issues. We mainly have problems with him talking when he shouldn't be (usually he gets done with his work and gets bored).

Since they had some time off for conferences, we took a few days to get away. We headed to the Wichita Falls, TX area to visit some good friends. I've known Millie and Apolinar since I was 12, and Apolinar was the minister that performed Jason and I's wedding. We got in around 6pm Thursday night. Friday we went to the Wichita Mountains in SW Oklahoma for a while before heading to Tulsa to visit Jason's parents. (Jason met us in Tulsa.) We got some beautiful pictures.

I will update our Tulsa trip and Halloween tomorrow. I also got some fall pics today.
