8-31-09 Safety Day at Deanna Rose

Deanna Rose is one of our favorite places to go in nice weather. They had safety day where they had fire trucks, police men, Children's Mercy's Helicopter, and all kinds of things. We met up with our friends Jen and Chris and their boys, and the kids had a great day.

8-25-09 Christmas Carol Movie Promo

Disney has a new Christmas Carol movie coming out in November with Jim Carrey, and they are traveling around the county to promote it. The kids had early release, so I picked them up at 2 and headed down to Union Station. It was a pretty cool exhibit (though I didn't get to take pics inside), and the kids loved it! They had artwork, costumes, models, etc. We stood outside in the heat for over an hour to get in, and we didn't get a chance to watch the special 3-d preview, but I'm glad we went!

Monday, August 17th was a BIG day!!

The boys started back to school. It was hard to believe I had a 3rd grader and a 1st grader. As I walked Joshua to his classroom to take a picture of him at his desk, I told him that as his mother, I would be doing that as long as I wanted to (I do it every year). Fortunately, he told me that was fine and it didn't bother him.






Then, I got a call from my sister at 1:45 in the afternoon that my new nephew was being born! My sister and brother-in-law are adopting a baby, and the precious little guy was born on the 17th of August. Everything is going smoothly. Friday, the 21, my mom and I accompanied them to court to get guardianship of him. It will take about 8 months for everything to be finalized. I was completely unprepared for how much this little guy would affect me. Even having kids of my own, this is so different. Robby is such a good baby and absolutely precious. We are so blessed. Sarah and Joshua adore him and want to hold him every chance they get. Zachary mostly lives in his own little world.

Zachary's water party

We never got around to having a birthday party for Zachary because of spring break and other things going on. He decided in May that he wanted to have a water party over the summer. Well, of course summer flew by and it was almost time for school to start. So on the Friday before, he had his water party. We filled up 200+ water balloons, which of course took hours to do, but it only a few minutes to get rid of them all. They played with the balls and frisbees that you soak in water and throw. And we also got out the slip n slide. They ate ice cream sandwiches and drank juice boxes outside, so it was an easy clean up. The kids all had a blast, the weather was perfect, and it makes me wish I had a kid with a summer birthday :)
